I don’t know about you, but for me this year already has been flying by. I can’t believe that spring is coming up already.
Most weeks I feel like I’ve been scrambling to keep myself organized and get everything done. I have a digital calendar on my phone where I keep all my important activities and events. It helps me to have a high level overview of what’s going on and what’s coming up in the future. This is such a helpful tool for me, but the problem is it’s a little TOO high level. I don’t put lots of extra details into my phone calendar because I don’t want it to be cluttered. I want to be able to glance at my phone calendar and only see the outline of my day.
Lately I’ve been trying to come up with ways to keep myself and track and working towards goals. When I have an action plan, it makes my days seem less disorganized and more focused. In order to work towards goals or big projects, you almost always have to do something little each day. Breaking up large goals and projects into manageable tasks helps you stay on track and actually make progress towards completing them.
I’ve been reluctant to start breaking up my big goals and projects into smaller items because I didn’t want them filling up my phone calendar. So, instead I’ve gone old school and created a printable monthly calendar. I love digital calendars, but sometimes it’s helpful to use a paper calendar as a worksheet for mapping out your goals and projects.
For example, I’ve wanted to paint over the not-so-great yellow ceilings in our house for a while. It seems like an easy project, but even simple projects can have multiple tasks that we tend to forget about. Using the calendar worksheet, I set a target date for when I wanted the main level ceilings completed. Working backwards from that date I wrote in when we would buy supplies. Then I wrote in when we would edge the ceilings. Finally I wrote in the days I planned for us to do the bulk of the painting work.
Writing it all out in the calendar allowed me to see the smaller tasks leading up to the completion of the project. I knew what my tasks were for each day so I could stay on track and work towards finishing.
So, I know that it’s already March (a little late getting this out), but today I’m sharing with you my full 12- month printable 2016 watercolor calendar. You can print out as many copies you need and use it throughout the year as a worksheet for planning out and reaching your goals.
