The master bedroom update has been an ongoing project in our home that we’ve made some big progress on. We’ve spent a lot of time working on different projects to make it more our style and turn it into our relaxing retreat. I’m so happy with all of the big projects, but there are still a few details that need to be added to really finish the room.
One of those details that I wanted to add was a chandelier. Up until now, this room has had no overhead lighting.

Our master bedroom has 8-foot ceilings, but we also chose to add a tray ceiling when we were originally building our home. So, the ceilings are slightly taller and make the space feel even bigger. When we originally moved into our home, we just had a rough-in for a light in this room.
I’ve been looking for a modern chandelier to make a big statement in this space. But I also wanted something that was minimal enough that it didn’t take away from our beautiful grid accent wall.
I did some searching online and found these really fun lights called sputnik chandeliers. They get their name from their resemblance to the first satellite that orbited Earth — Sputnik. Ben and I are both “space nerds” so I thought that this fun design would be perfect for our home.
Chandeliers, in general, can get really expensive. I’m always amazed at the crazy prices of some high-end lights. For our home, I try to find high-end looking items at more affordable prices.
Wayfair had a great selection of affordable versions of the sputnik chandeliers. I ended up choosing this chandelier for our master bedroom. It’s a really eye-catching and modern piece that is perfect for our master bedroom.
These types of lights are designed to be used with Edison light bulbs. We aren’t the biggest fan of traditional Edison bulbs. They also use a lot of electricity. So instead, we found these LED light bulbs that give off a really nice tone of light and are also dimmable!
Once we installed the chandelier and a dimmable switch, I was in love! This sputnik chandelier is such a fun addition to our master bedroom. It fits our style and the vibe that we have in our bedroom perfectly!
I do have to warn you though, with all of those light bulbs, it’s definitely a very bright light. I’m glad that we have the dimming option so that we can choose how bright we want it to be.
If you’re looking for a modern sputnik chandelier for your home, look no further. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite affordable sputnik chandeliers from Wayfair. All of these options would look great in a modern classic home! Let me know which is your favorite in the comments below.
9 Affordable Sputnik Chandeliers for your Home
1 – Burkley 10-Light Sputnik Chandelier
This is the chandelier that I chose for our master bedroom. It’s a fun and unexpected addition to the space that fits our style perfectly.
2 – Mullet 6-Light Sputnik Chandelier
This is a smaller version of the chandelier that we have in our master bedroom. So if you still want the look, but don’t have as much vertical space, this is a great option.
3 – Metal 12-Light Sputnik Chandelier
This is a more playful version of the chandelier style with a round center. The more rounded style looks great in a casual space or a playroom.
4 – Bach 18-Light Sputnik Chandelier
If you have a very large space for a chandelier like a stairwell or a two-story entry, this large fixture would be perfect. It will definitely make a statement
5 – Dwight 5-Light Sputnik Chandelier
For a smaller space, this simple take on a sputnik chandelier will fit in nicely. It also has a flatter profile than many of the others, so you don’t need as much vertical space.
6 – Notting Burst 7-Light Sputnik Chandelier
This brushed nickel option is a sleek design that would also be great for smaller spaces. I really like the different light design on this fixture. The thinner lights make it look sleeker and more streamlined.
7 – Rodrigue 12-Light Sputnik Chandelier
This version of the sputnik chandelier is more traditional than the others. I love the brass finish and elegance that this chandelier has. It would look great in a dining room.
8 – Church Street 6-Light Sputnik Chandelier
This chandelier has a unique look because the arms are not all attached to the center. There is an asymmetric feel to the fixture that makes it very eye-catching. The brushed nickel finish is also really nice.
9 – Bensley 6-Light Oversized Bulbs Sputnik Chandelier
This chandelier has a more whimsical feel to it because of the oversized bulbs. I love the simple design of the structure. It would look great in a minimal modern home.
