Stylish window treatments don’t have to be expensive. Check out these 6 beautiful budget-friendly Roman shades. They are so easy to install and are cordless too!
There’s this door in our house that makes me feel like I’m living in a fishbowl. You may have seen it before in some of our home tours. It’s the door leading out to our porch. This door is right off of our kitchen and it’s a French door, meaning it’s got glass windows.
During the day, it’s really nice to have more light in the home and to see outside. But at night, it really does make me feel like I live in a fishbowl!
We live in a townhome, which means we don’t have a lot of space around our home. The back of our home actually looks directly at the back of other townhomes.
So at night, if you don’t have blinds you can see directly into each other’s homes. Not very much privacy!
I’ve been waiting to get a window covering for our back door for a while because I just hadn’t found the right one.
One day I was looking for some inspiration and I saw a pretty photo of some Roman shades.

I ended up choosing this beautiful privacy Roman shade in the color Belgian Denim for our back door. I feel like the name is a little misleading because it’s not blue at all. It’s a soft gray color. But I love how it looks in our home.
To order the shade, all I had to do was measure the window on our back door. Then I selected the shade that fit the measurements the best.
Once the shade arrived it was super easy to install.
How to Install a Roman Shade
First, we placed the shade where it needed to be installed on the door.
Because of the window design, our shade needed to be mounted on the outside. Once we got a general location for the shade, we took out the hardware from the packaging.
It doesn’t matter horizontally where the brackets go because the shade just snaps onto the brackets. We spaced them evenly above the window and marked the location of the holes.
Then, using a drill bit that could drill into metal (because our door is actually metal) we drill holes to attach the brackets.
Once the holes were drilled, we attached the brackets using the screws that came with the shade.
Then, all we had to do was snap the shade into the brackets and it was installed!
It really was a very easy installation that anyone could do. Chicology made it very simple to follow the instructions.
I love how the new Roman shade looks on our back door. It fits in perfectly with our home style.
The fabric of the shade provides the privacy that I was looking for, while also still letting light filter through. Now I don’t have to worry about feeling like I live in a fishbowl.
