Can you believe that it’s already fall? Here in Pennsylvania, the first day of September came with chilly weather. Thankfully, it’s not super cold just yet, but we are getting our first glimpses of fall for sure.
I’m having a love hate relationship with the start of fall this year. I think it’s because I was really looking forward to getting the most out of my summer. I had all these plans and ideas for summer. But, as usual, before I knew it, the summer days were over.

So now I’m transitioning and getting into my fall plans and ideas. I have to admit, I do really love fall too! There’s something about the season that brings with it the feeling of a fresh start.
At the start of every new season, I always make a point to have a window shopping day and check out the new seasonal items in the stores. I make stops at all my favorite craft and home decor stores to get inspired and excited for the season to come.
When I was browsing through Michaels, I headed for the fall floral section. This year for fall, there are so many amazing color combinations. I was immediately drawn to the rich, muted tones. The purples, pinks, and even blue-green florals were all catching my eye.
This year, I’m loving all the jewel tone fall colors. I’m leaning more towards these color combinations than the typical oranges and reds. It’s a little unexpected, but I think the muted tones look perfect as we transition from summer into the fall season.
I grabbed a few statement flowers, like this gorgeous pink peony and this purple Protea, and started putting together an idea for a fall floral arrangement.
I added a couple of smaller eucalyptus stems that I knew I could mix with my go-to eucalyptus stems at home. Finally, I grabbed a handful of these pretty purple stems (I’m not totally sure what flower they actually are, but they look beautiful). They kind of look like berries, and have the same textural effect.
Oh, and I couldn’t get out of the store without checking out the clearance selections. I’m a sucker for anything clearance. I think it drives my husband crazy, but I can’t pass up a good deal. I grabbed this vase from the clearance section for only $4! YAY!
Once I got home, I started putting together my fall floral arrangement. I started with my favorite eucalyptus stems from IKEA. I love the texture and color that they add to any floral arrangement. Next, I added my new smaller eucalyptus stems.
Then, I added my “show stopper” florals. I tucked the Protea into the front of the arrangement and bent the stem to keep it a little lower in the vase. I like the look of this heartier flower being up front and shorter than the rest. I think I was pulling ideas from my favorite Farmgirl flowers bouquet.
Then, I propped the peony in the back of the arrangement, high above the other florals.
Finally, I finished off the arrangement by tucking the smaller purple flowers into the sides of the arrangement. I used them to create width and interest along in the arrangement with my eucalyptus stems.
What do you think? Are you loving the muted, rich tones of purple, pink, and blue-green? I know that I am!
This little arrangement was so easy to pull together. And now, I have a floral bouquet that will last me all season long.
I do love fresh flowers, but I can’t pass up the beautiful faux alternatives. Especially since they will never wilt.
How is your summer to fall transition going? Are you ready for the new season and that feeling of a fresh start? Let me know in the comments.
I hope you have a great week!
