I am excited to join my friend Brittany from Our Home Made Easy who is hosting today’s Christmas light home tour.
My favorite part about decorating for Christmas is all of the twinkle lights! It makes our home feel festive and cozy for the holiday season.
Today I’m sharing our main living area all lit up with twinkly Christmas lights.
The living room is where we spend most of our time because it’s a central location in our home.
It’s also where we have our Christmas tree during December. And because of that, it’s where I want to spend all of my time!
I just want to sit on the couch, with a cozy blanket, relaxing and looking at the tree all lit up. It really doesn’t get any better than that.
This year we finally got a real star for our tree. I am loving it! It was a little difficult to capture in pictures because it sort of looks like a beacon. But I promise it’s really pretty, and normal looking, in person. You can find our new tree topper here.
Every year, we pick out a real tree at a local tree farm near our home. It’s a fun tradition that Ben and I have been doing ever since we got married.
This year’s tree is my favorite so far! It is almost perfectly shaped and doesn’t have any “weird” spots that we needed to hide.
When it comes to Christmas, we tend to decorate a little more traditional. Our Christmas tree is filled with ornaments we’ve collected when we were kids, and also ornaments we’ve collected together since we got married.
Every year, I love pulling out the ornament boxes, going through all of the ornaments and decorating the tree. Each ornament brings back memories.
Other than the ornaments, all we add to our tree is some strands of Christmas lights. They give the tree that beautiful glow!
I’ve thought about adding floral picks, garland, and other embellishments to the tree to give it some more style. But, each year we end up loving the simplicity of our traditional tree.
One of my favorite decorative items for Christmas is this faux garland. We hang it from our staircase every year and layer it was faux eucalyptus to give it that mixed greenery look. It looks just like real garland, but without all of the hassles.
I also love it because it’s pre-lit with twinkly Christmas lights. They are battery powered and turn on and off on a timer.
I love this garland! It was an investment Christmas decoration, but it has held up every year and it looks just as good as when we bought it. You can learn all about how I created our garland look here.
This year, I decided to decorate the garland with a different approach. Instead of my usual ribbons, I used these beautiful bells.
I picked up one of these bell strands at Hobby Lobby and casually put it on the staircase when I was trying to figure out where I could use it.
But then I stepped back and loved how they looked!! So naturally, I ran all the way back to Hobby Lobby to grab two more. I don’t think they are online anymore (which is a bummer) but they might still be in stores. They look so pretty!
The bells really look the best at night when all of the Christmas lights are on! The gold bells reflect the lights and look so beautiful!
On our dining room console table, I decided to go with a simple decorating approach. Every night, I love to see this mini Christmas tree all lit up!
One of my favorite views in the house is standing in the kitchen and dining area and looking back at the living room.
You can see our staircase with the garland, and our Christmas tree in the background. It’s so beautiful all together!

December has been a little crazy around here. I’ve been sharing a fun series on the blog called “Have Yourself a Very Cricut Christmas: 25 Days of Homemade Holiday Crafts.”
It’s been so much fun to create all of the projects and share them. But, to be honest, it’s been so much more work than I anticipated.
This beautiful Merry Christmas sign was one of the many projects I shared during the series. You can learn how to make it here.
I’m almost done with all of my posts for the series. I’ll have them scheduled out until Christmas day. And once I am finished, I can finally take some time off and relax from all the craziness.
My plan for the rest of December is to be able to sit back, relax in our home, and prepare for the true meaning of Christmas — the birth of Christ!
I hope you enjoyed this Christmas lights tour of our home. Don’t forget to hop around and visit my amazingly talented blog friends. I know their homes are looking beautiful all lit up at night!
If only we could keep the Christmas lights up all year long! ????

The house looks just fabulous. Love the tree, manager and the garland on the stairs.
Goodness I so wish we had an open stair banister just so I could do the garland and bells! Looks great! 🙂
Lovely photos and beautiful tree, Christene! I really love your traditional style. It seems so cozy and inviting for the holidays. I hope you get some rest after the 25-day post marathon you’re running! You’re amazing!
Your Christmas decoration all in all looks so amazing! I super love those bells hanging on the staircase. Plus, I also love having a simple traditional Christmas tree. It’s really good to see pictures from year to year and see the same Christmas tree in them.
Hi Christene,
Love your bell strands. I live in Oxfordshire England and we have nothing like those in our stores.
If you ever get bored of them and feel like a change, I would love to give them a loving home. Just email me and we’ll work out a price and shipping costs.
here’s hoping!!!
Best wishes,
Mia
