– Unfinished Poplar boards (2.5” x 1/4”) – Loctite (Clear Dry) – Measuring Tape – Miter Saw or handsaw – Square Tool – Pencil
Before you start, first you need to figure out what items will go in your drawers. Then, place all of the items back into the drawer in their desired compartment location.
Next, you need to measure around the items in your drawer to figure out how big each compartment of your organizer will be.
Make a cut list based on your measurements. Then use a miter saw to cut all of the pieces.
After making each cut, measure the piece to also make sure the length matched the length on your cut list. Then, repeat this process – measure, mark with pencil, cut, measure – for each piece on your cut list.
The first step to assembling your wooden drawer organizers is to dry-fit them into the drawer.
Glue the boards into place and create the compartments for your utensil drawer organizer.
Move the compartments into the drawer and use the Loctite again to glue the wood inserts to the sides of each drawer.
Some of the smaller wood pieces may need to be glued individually once the main compartment structure is in place inside of the kitchen drawer.
