Hey friends! Welcome back to Christmas home tour week!
I’m so excited to be joining Olivia from Reinvented Collection today for the “It’s a Wonderful House” Christmas Home Tour Hop!
If you’re new here, I just wanted to take a second to say “Welcome” and introduce myself. I’m Christene and I’m so glad you’ve decided to stop by. Consider this your virtual welcome into my home. So step inside and grab a cup of coffee!
I’m passionate about all things home. Decorating, organizing, creating, renovating. You name it — I love it! I believe that your home should be a haven for your family. A place where everyone is comfortable and feels welcome.
My home style is what I like to call “Modern Classic.” It’s a little bit of traditional and a little bit of modern mixed together to create a fresh and casual atmosphere.
I’m continuing Christmas home tour week with my living room. This room is the main area of our home that’s decorated for Christmas because it’s the room with our Christmas tree.

When it comes to Christmas decorating in our home, I don’t go out and buy all new decorations every year. It’s less about themes and more about traditions for us.
Every year, I look forward to getting the Christmas decoration boxes out of storage. And as we open each one, we get to reminisce about our Christmases from years past and all the memories.
Now, that doesn’t mean that I never buy new things for Christmas decorating. Each year I probably add a few things here and there to my collection. But, if you look at my home tour from last Christmas, you’ll probably see a lot of the same items, just in different places.
But to me, that’s the best part! I love decorating our home with our favorites year after year. It makes our house feel special for Christmas.
The living room is the hub of our home. When you come up the stairs, there’s a corner on the left where we put our Christmas tree every year.
The tree fits so well in this space and we can see it from the dining room and kitchen too!

Actually, when we were touring the model home version of our house, Ben and I both commented that this “nook” area would be the perfect spot for a Christmas tree. Critical things to think about while house shopping! ????
We cut down a real Christmas tree each year. There’s just something so fun about going out and picking out the perfect tree. And the smell of a fresh tree in your home is amazing!
Our main tree is very traditional. We like to keep it simple with clear lights and all of our treasured Christmas ornaments.
Both Ben and I grew up collecting our own Christmas ornaments. We have a variety of ornaments from our childhood and also many that we’ve collected since we got married.
I love the look of glass ornaments, so our tree is mostly filled with sparkly glass items. As you look at the tree, you’ll probably spot a different ornament each time!
Underneath the tree is Ben’s prized train set. This is his favorite thing to set up each year and he loves all the tiny details.
Right above the staircase is one of my favorite DIY projects – my Merry Christmas wooden sign. It fits perfectly in this space and I love seeing it peeking through the tree branches.
Our living room doesn’t have a fireplace, so we had to get creative with our Christmas stockings. The first year that we were married, Ben made me this gorgeous wooden ladder that is perfect for hanging stockings.

This year our living room is looking a little more “lived in” with the addition of these new chairs. Normally I keep them right next to each other on the left side of the room. But for Christmas, I moved one of them over next to our media center.
I dressed it up for Christmas by swapping out my normal pillow covers for these velvet ones from IKEA. I love the warmth and texture that they add to these chairs. I also found this beautiful throw blanket at TJMaxx (similar). Aren’t the colors perfect for a cozy Christmas?
With the addition of our media center to the living room, I’ve had fun decorating the open space for the different seasons.
I decided to keep this area a little more neutral and wintery feeling.
The “Merry + Bright” sign is actually a craft night project that I made this year with some of my friends. The gorgeous lettering is actually vinyl that we cut out using the Cricut Explore. And the design was hand-lettered by my amazingly talented friend Allie! You can follow her on Instagram here!
For this space, I brought out my cute ceramic house again. I use this white ceramic house for just about every season because it’s a great neutral piece. This year, I added a smaller ceramic house from the same collection. But, since the original house was a Target find from last fall, I actually found the smaller house at Goodwill for $2!
I’m glad that now I have both to make a little set!
Over on our couch, I swapped out our fall pillows for these cozy red plaid pillows.
I was also so excited to bring out this adorable Christmas pillow that I found at HomeGoods last year. I love the color and the pom poms are super cute.
One of my favorite decorations is actually this cute moose wearing a sweater. I know that it’s a little goofy, but Ben and I both love the moose! It’s fun to bring him out every year and find the perfect spot for him.

This year, Widget (our cat) has decided that she loves tormenting the moose. She will sneak up on him and knock him over pretty much daily!
For the decor on our end tables, I tried to keep things simple. On the left side of the room, I have this modern wood and white Christmas tree and one of the nesting houses from this set from the new Hearth & Hand Collection at Target.
These houses are a must buy because they are a great neutral decorating item.
On the right side of the room, I framed my favorite Christmas print from Lindsay Letters – the “Oh Holy Night” print! I love the modern calligraphy and it looks so pretty with the rest of my Christmas decorations.
I paired the print with a modern metal reindeer figure and the other two wooden nesting houses.
Looking back across the room, you can see my pine and eucalyptus garland cascading down the stairs. I attached it to the railing using these pretty garland ties in the color olive green.
Besides the Christmas tree, the garland is my favorite decoration during the Christmas season.
Since the stairs are in the middle of the house, the garland works as a decoration for both the living room and the dining room.
I shared all about how I created this look last year and I’m so excited to have it back this year!
Psst: This garland has the look of real pine and eucalyptus but it’s totally fake! That means I can use it year after year and it will stay gorgeous. And bonus, it also lights up at night!
For Christmas time, I like our home to feel extra cozy. And that means bringing in lots of wood tones and cozy fabrics.
My favorite thing to do during this time of year is to curl up with a cozy blanket on the couch and watch a Christmas movie with the twinkling lights from the Christmas tree illuminating the room.
I hope that you enjoyed this tour of our Christmas living room. Don’t forget to stop back each day to visit all of the blogs on the hop. All of the links are below. I promise you will gain some serious Christmas decor inspiration!

Your home looks so pretty decked out for Christmas. I love your garland and was so surprised to read that it is faux. It sure looks like the real thing and it must look so pretty lit up at night. Your home does have the perfect Christmas tree spot and it’s great that you can enjoy it from more than one area in your home. The train under the tree is the perfect touch. My dad used to do that with his childhood train and we loved that tradition as kids. I so much enjoyed touring your home!
Thank you Paula! So glad to be a part of this home tour with you!
I love the look of real garland but it made me sad thinking I would spend all that money and it would die every year. So I researched forever and found a great alternative! I will have to do a night tour later this year to show you everything lit up at night 🙂
Awww trains are such a fun tradition for Christmas! It’s the best when you have it running around the tree and gifts on Christmas morning.

Your Christmas tree is absolutely stunning!
Best,

Thank you Kelly! It’s so fun to be a part of this hop with you 🙂

Hi Christine! Your home looks absolutely beautiful! Your tree is perfection!
Thanks Rebeca! 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful week!

Your garland is so beautiful – I love how you used two different types of fresh greenery! I also adore your Christmas tree ornaments – I even spy some very similar ones that I have on my traditional tree!
Thanks so much Angelina! So fun! I love the traditional ornaments 🙂

Your real tree is so traditional and perfect cuddled up next to the banner. I was reading your post to find out how yo keep the greens on the banner so fresh when I discovered they were fake, they are absolutely gorgeous. Everything in your home looks serene and cozy, from the tree to the snoozing cat. Beautiful done blog hop.
Thanks so much Leanna! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. And yes!! It’s totally fake and it’s the best. I searched forever to find something that looked somewhat real and I found that pine garland. And then I added my favorite faux eucalyptus to bulk it up a little. It’s my favorite because it’s never going to wilt!
I do love fresh garland though, it’s just too pricey to buy every year 🙂

I’m loving your simple and easy style. Everything works so well together, and I especially love that garland on the staircase. It’s gorgeous.
Hi Christene…I love all of the different glass ornaments on your tree. I can only imagine all of the memories that tree must hold! But I have to say, my favorite thing is your moose! He is TOO cute. I’m sure my cats would think he is a great cat toy, too 🙂
Aww thanks Wanda!!! We love the moose too! I mean, he’s not going to be the star of Home Decor blogs on Pinterest anytime soon, but he’s my favorite! I’m glad you appreciate him too!

This is so beautiful and I adore those little white houses
Thanks Rhonda!!! I love using them during different seasons — especially fall and winter.

Christene, your Christmas tree is just gorgeous, I always talk about getting a real one, and just never do… but I love yours! Widget is adorable, and I love your banister garland, I’m going to have to check out how you did that! I add to my collection each year to and reuse almost everything… but it always looks new cause it’s never different spots and with new things I collect throughout the year! I agree, it’s the best part:) Beautiful Home!
Aww thanks so much Summer! Widget is our little buddy – she’s the best 🙂
Yes! If you search “Pine and Eucalyptus Garland” on my blog I have a whole post about it. Reusing decor is the way to go, and it brings back so many good memories!

Hi Christene,
Your home looks beautiful. That garland, though…… what a fabulous find! It’s tough to find realistic Christmas garland and you’ve done a lovely job using it. Thank you for joining It’s A Wonderful House Christmas Home Tours.
I think you forgot to add your link to Jennifer Rizzo’s link-up. Use Chrome to add it. If you use Safari it acts up. ❤️
Thanks Olivia! The garland is one of my favorite things because it looks real and I don’t have to take care of it. It just looks good no matter what! Thanks for putting together this hop – I really enjoyed being a part of it.
